Prečo by ste nemali chodiť so psom na krátkom vodítku

Some owners choose to walk their dogs on a short leash “for convenience”. However, the convenience in this case is questionable. Why not walk your dog on a short leash?

Existujú 2 dôvody:

  1. If the leash is shorter than 2 meters, you will not be able to teach your dog to walk on a loose leash. She will always pull it, pull it, and you can’t do anything about it (except perhaps getting annoyed). The problem is that in this case the dog is constantly inside your personal space, and she is not very comfortable with this. And, of course, if the dog wants to simply sniff the grass or a bush, he will not be able to do this without pulling and pulling the leash – and without exploring the world, full-fledged walks are impossible.
  2. When meeting another dog, there is a high chance of showing aggression because your dog simply will not be able to demonstrate signals of reconciliation and peacefully disperse. She will simply have nowhere to go, and, most likely, she will pull on the leash, and a dog walking on a tight leash is perceived by relatives as ready to attack.

So it is best to choose a leash at least 3 meters long for walking (and preferably more). This will make walks more enjoyable and safer for both you and your pet.
